1670 Room Event Space (formerly Gingerline)
Biography & Highlights
The bass shakes your chest before you even hand the door guy your ID. That old Gingerline sign is gone, but the 1670 Room still feels like the same sweaty Charleston box we’ve been stumbling into for years. It’s loud, it’s dark, and the front door opens right onto King Street so you’re dodging tourists while you wait to get checked.
Inside, it’s a tight squeeze. The floor is coated in black gaffer tape holding down way too many cables, and the bar stools wobble if you lean too hard. You aren't getting craft cocktails here, so just order a cheap domestic tallboy and shove your way toward the stage before the local punk set kicks off. Sound bleeds from the monitors so hard your teeth rattle, and nobody’s handing out earplugs at the door, so you’ll regret leaving yours in the car.
Backstage is just a corner by the ice machine where the touring bands stack their gear cases. If you need to hit the restroom, good luck pushing past the merch table blocking the hallway. It’s grimy, it’s loud, and the AC units rattle louder than the cymbals.
